IO Interactive has released a new trailer for its upcoming Bond game, 007 First Light, and it pulls back the curtains on the villainous Bawma, who is played by none other than Lenny Kravitz. This trailer aired during The Game Awards, placing protagonist and 00-Agent-in-training James Bond in a fictional city in Mauritania, Africa.
This city is called Aleph, and it seems to be a stronghold and shoddy utopia built by Bawma.
Check out Bawma in the 007 First Light trailer below:
“I am sometimes asked, ‘Bawma, how is it that you hear every whisper in every corner?’,” Bawma says to Bond, who is captured and hanging upside down before the villain, in the trailer. “And I answer, ‘I built Aleph with my will, my blood, and my whole self.’ This city is an extension of my being, my body, and today, it became infected. Easy girls, plenty of meat for everyone.”
As for the girls, my guess is crocodiles. These reptiles seem fitting for the situation, and Bawma seems to have crocodile-scale tattoos all over his body, with scales even attached to his yellow blazer. Interestingly, I looked up the word “Bawma,” and it’s traced back to Arabic, where it means “owl.” So maybe the girls are owls, but the love of scales in Bawma’s design is very apparent, and owls don’t have scales.
With Kravitz playing the villain, I’m wondering if Kravitz will create the Bond theme for this game.
Fortunately, we don’t have to wait too long to find out because 007 First Light launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and PC on March 27, 2026.
In the meantime, check out this trailer that reveals the Aston Martin Valhalla as Bond’s car of choice in 007 First Light, and then read about how watching a behind-closed-doors demo of 007 First Light quelled my biggest worry about the game. After that, check out this trailer of Bond’s early days in the game.
