The remake of Nintendo’s “Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door” has received ratings in Brazil and Korea. This Nintendo Switch game, announced earlier in the year, is a reimagining of the beloved GameCube classic. Although it currently carries a tentative release date of 2024, the fact that it is already undergoing rating board evaluations suggests that it might potentially launch earlier in the year.
When “The Thousand-Year Door” originally released in 2004, it received widespread critical acclaim and boasts an impressive Metacritic score of 87. It even earned the title of Console Role Playing Game of the Year at the 8th Interactive Achievement Awards, which is now known as the DICE Awards.
Notably, it’s not the only classic Mario RPG in the pipeline for a re-release. A remake of the SNES title “Super Mario RPG” is also in development and is set to hit the shelves on November 17.
“Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door” is likely one of the last major releases for Nintendo’s current console before the company unveils its plans for the next gaming machine. It’s worth mentioning that Nintendo has displayed technical demos of its successor to the Nintendo Switch in private sessions at Gamescom, although the company has not publicly disclosed its next-gen console strategy. A recent report from VGC indicated that Nintendo is planning to introduce new hardware late in the following year.
