Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 has been highly anticipated, and with ongoing updates, we continue to uncover details about The Chinese Room’s vampiric adventure. Following the confirmation of the anarchic Brujah as the game’s first playable clan, the developers have now announced that the blood-bending, spell-casting Tremere will also be part of the lineup.
For those familiar with my coverage of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, it’s known that my allegiance lies with the Malkavians. However, during a recent replay of the original Bloodlines, I explored the mysterious world of witches, opting for the Tremere clan and causing absolute chaos.
Imagine my excitement upon learning that the eccentric and magical blood mages are making a return in Bloodlines 2. If the upfront melee style of the Brujah doesn’t suit you, as a Tremere, you’ll have the ability to dismantle your enemies from a distance, using your own blood as ammunition.
Although the reveal trailer is brief, it showcases a Tremere version of the player character, Phyre, taking on two enemies in what seems to be a neon-lit, graffiti-covered underground cavern. In the clips, Phyre pulls an enemy off a nearby ledge and employs blood-based projectiles to eliminate another foe from a distance.
According to the official reveal blog post, “As a Tremere in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, you use your arcane powers to control your own Blood and that of your foes. The playstyle is rewarding when keeping your distance in combat, making enemies scream in agony as you boil their blood, shaping your own vitae into projectiles, or even ripping the blood from their veins.”
Between the two revealed clans, Tremere aligns more with my preferences. While I enjoyed close encounters in Sharkmob’s VTM-inspired battle royale game, Bloodhunt, the ranged playstyle resonates better with me. However, I hope that Phyre won’t be sporting the notorious brown dress that the base female Tremere wears in the first game, as that could impact my relationships with the surrounding Kindred.
Although the release date for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is still distant, there’s hope that Phyre will have an opportunity to adopt a new look. In the meantime, a list of other exceptional RPG games is available to explore.
