Guild Wars 2 came out nearly 14 years ago, and after a decade and a half of support and expansions, the team is pushing out a proper sequel. Guild Wars 3 was announced at Summer Game Fest this evening, and developer ArenaNet is calling it the modern evolution of the MMORPG. Check out the reveal trailer below:
“Explore Tyria like never before in Guild Wars 3, an action-adventure MMORPG and modern evolution of the genre,” the trailer’s description reads. “Play solo or form a band of adventurers, forging impactful and enduring bonds with fellow players, a formative cast of memorable NPCs, and the nature spirits that call Orr home.”
While the teaser doesn’t show us any concrete gameplay, it does show off a stunning, vibrant art style, which we hope will translate over to the full release. The announcement also came with the news that the game will be coming to both PC and PS5, which is a significant move for a series that has typically avoided console releases.
You’ll be able to get your hands on the game in Fall 2027, when the beta begins. For more information, the trailer points viewers towards guildwars3.com. It’s also available to be wishlisted on Steam.
