During today’s short but jam-packed 15-minute Donkey Kong Bananza Direct, Nintendo revealed a new Amiibo for the game. It features Donkey Kong and his companion, Pauline, and launches alongside the game next month on July 17.
Scanning this special Donkey Kong & Pauline Amiibo into Donkey Kong Bananza unlocks Pauline’s Diva Dress. Alongside this reveal, Nintendo also announced that every other Amiibo released thus far, including previous Donkey Kong Amiibo and the special arm bands used inside Universal’s Super Nintendo World theme parks, can be used to receive special giant spheres that do unique things in-game.

For example, one Amiibo might bring a giant ice sphere into your game, allowing you to clog up a lava canal to reach somewhere new. Nintendo only revealed small snippets of how Amiibo work in-game, so we’ll likely learn more about their functionality next month.
Donkey Kong Bananza launches exclusively on Switch 2 on July 17.
