Following the conclusion of the third round matches in the Worlds 2023 Swiss stage on October 23, the pairings for the fourth round have been determined. Notably, two face-offs between Europe and North America have garnered attention, with one of the winners securing a spot in the quarterfinals.
The 2-1 bracket, featuring the only two Western teams, G2 Esports and NRG, will both advance to the Knockout stage as they are slated to compete against each other. Meanwhile, T1 will square off against Bilibili Gaming, and LNG Esports will challenge KT Rolster within the same bracket.
In the 1-2 seeding category, a significant League of Legends clash is on the horizon, with Cloud9 and Fnatic set to engage in a best-of-three series for their tournament survival. The second European representative in this bracket, MAD Lions, faces a more challenging task as they are matched against Weibo Gaming. Additionally, Dplus KIA will go head-to-head with GAM Esports.
What’s noteworthy is that all six matches in the fourth round will feature teams from various regions, with no regional “Civil Wars” taking place in the Worlds 2023 Swiss stage.
The third round witnessed two teams, JD Gaming and Gen.G, securing their spots in the playoffs with flawless 3-0 records, while it also marked the exit of the first two squads. Team Liquid and Team BDS bid farewell to the competition after falling to GAM and DK, respectively.
The remaining teams in the Worlds 2023 Swiss stage now have ample time to prepare for their upcoming battles, as the tournament resumes in three days. The first two matches, which involve C9 facing Fnatic and MAD taking on Weibo Gaming, are scheduled for Thursday, October 26.
