Oxygen Esports, an esports organization based in New England, has revealed that their Call of Duty League franchise, Boston Breach, will host the first Major tournament of the 2024 season. This event is scheduled to take place at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston, Massachusetts, from January 24th to January 28th, 2024.
This marks the second time that Boston Breach is hosting a Call of Duty League Major tournament in just two years, following their hosting of the second Major of the 2023 season. The organization has joined forces with the renowned event management company, Live Nation, to orchestrate the upcoming tournament. Oxygen Esports anticipates approximately 15,000 attendees to participate in the first significant LAN (Local Area Network) tournament of the 2024 Call of Duty League season over the weekend.
In addition to the Call of Duty League Major 1, Boston Breach will also be the venue for the Call of Duty Challengers tournament. This competition will feature 96 teams from around the world competing for a prize pool of $75,000 (~£60,500).
It’s important to note that the Challengers tournament will be held at the Citizen’s House of Blues Boston, not at the MGM Music Hall.
Boston Breach is under the ownership of Oxygen Esports, an esports organization that also possesses Boston Uprising in the Overwatch League. Oxygen Esports manages its own teams in various competitive titles, including VALORANT, Rocket League, and Rainbow Six.
The organization merged with Boston Uprising in 2021 and secured a Call of Duty League slot that became available after OpTic Gaming and Envy Gaming merged. The team’s most notable achievement thus far was finishing in third place at the Call of Duty League 2022 Stage 2 Major.
