Dead by Daylight has introduced a substantial new update, but it may not be well-received by survivors. If you’re playing as a survivor, prepare yourself for some disappointing news. Similar to the controversial nerf to the Decisive Strike perk in the game’s past, one of the most potent perks for injured survivors, “Made For This,” has been significantly toned down in this update. However, it’s not all bad news for killers, as there are also buffs in the works for The Trickster, the popstar killer from Behaviour Interactive.
For long-time Dead by Daylight fans, the anticipation of regular updates is a common occurrence. These updates typically bring changes that impact your gameplay experience, whether you’re a killer or a survivor. In their recent developer update, Behaviour Interactive outlines several upcoming adjustments and features, with a couple of substantial changes on the horizon.
The “Made For This” perk, which allowed injured survivors to escape more quickly, has undergone one of the most significant nerfs in Dead by Daylight’s history. According to the developer, even a slight speed boost “can have a significant impact in skilled hands,” making survivors “extremely challenging to catch.” The developer also notes that the perk is often used unavoidably as it activates immediately when a survivor gets injured.
To balance the perk and make it fairer for killers, Behaviour Interactive is introducing “an additional condition to the Haste effect.” Now, you will only receive the benefits of “Made For This” when affected by Deep Wounds. Since the perk is now much more situational, the developer mentions that the “effect now applies while Exhausted as well.” This nerf resembles the one previously applied to Decisive Strike, and it remains to be seen if survivors will continue to use “Made For This.”
However, killers have more changes to look forward to. If you primarily play as The Trickster, you’ll be pleased to know that this stylish killer is about to become more effective. The ranged killer will now throw four blades per second instead of three with Rapid Fire, and there will be no recoil. This change should make the blades easier to control.
The Trickster’s movement speed is also getting a slight increase to put him “on par” with other killers. The Main Event ability undergoes a significant rework with the update, requiring only six blades to charge instead of the previous thirty. However, the duration of the ability has been reduced to five seconds. The killer’s add-ons will also offer new effects.
The developer’s post provides a comprehensive overview of these ability changes and other features planned for future updates. Additionally, new customization options, player cards, and map reworks, including the Garden of Joy and the Red Forest, are on the way. You can experience these updates firsthand by participating in the game’s public test build starting on Wednesday, November 8.
