Following the success of Elden Ring and Armored Core 6, a recent recruitment campaign by FromSoftware has unveiled that the studio, renowned for pioneering the soulslike genre, is actively working on multiple new projects. This expansion of their endeavors is in addition to the development of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC and the continuous updates for Armored Core 6.
FromSoftware has announced on their career page that they are in search of talent for “the next chapter” following Elden Ring. Various positions are open for application, covering game design, programming, and art design. Given the ongoing triumph of FromSoftware’s RPG games, the decision to recruit fresh talent is hardly unexpected.
The career page further elaborates, stating, “FromSoftware is recruiting development staff to play a central role in several new projects. Let’s work together to create games with value that can be enjoyed by players around the world.”
As detailed by IGN Japan, developers involved in both Armored Core 6 and Elden Ring will be participating in a series of recruitment sessions scheduled between Monday, December 4, and Friday, December 15 of this year.
While the release date for the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring remains unknown, it stands as the sole confirmed upcoming release from FromSoftware. It’s possible that we will receive more information about the DLC, and perhaps even its release date, at The Game Awards in December. Beyond that, it might be some time before we get updates on FromSoftware’s upcoming projects.
Considering the triumph of Armored Core 6, there’s potential for the team to further rejuvenate the mecha game series. Speculation also abounds that the Dark Souls formula may find its way into a future project. However, it remains uncertain whether we might witness the emergence of an entirely new intellectual property and game genre in FromSoftware’s future. Time will provide the answers.
With Elden Ring selling over 20 million copies in its first year, it’s evident that the love for soulslike games has reached a global scale. While Dark Souls was already immensely popular, we are now entering a new era of creativity from FromSoftware, and the anticipation for their upcoming projects is palpable.
