As the Lies of P release date approaches, the game’s Steam page has been updated to indicate the implementation of Denuvo, a security measure designed to prevent users from accessing or modifying the game’s source code and to combat piracy. Lies of P joins the ranks of several recent games that have incorporated Denuvo.
Lies of P offers a unique twist on the FromSoftware model, drawing inspiration from the original Pinocchio novel by Carlo Collodi. Neowiz had previously mentioned removing certain content from Lies of P due to its potentially “risky” nature. Now, just days before release, the developer has added Denuvo Anti-Tamper to the Lies of P Steam page.
An update to the Steam page for Lies of P‘s backend indicates that Denuvo was introduced into the fantasy game on Friday, September 15. In an archived version of the Lies of P Steam page from Thursday, September 14, there is no mention of Denuvo being included in the game.
In 2023, other games that utilize Denuvo, a software designed to safeguard a game’s source code and prevent piracy, include titles like Star Wars Jedi Survivor, Street Fighter 6, and Mortal Kombat 1. However, Katsuhiro Harada, the director of Tekken 8, has stated that there are no plans to introduce Denuvo or any similar measures in the upcoming fighting game. On a different note, Running With Scissors, the developer of Postal, has criticized Denuvo as “a punishment to the consumer.”
