PSG Talon made an early exit from the 2023 Worlds after losing the final series of the Play-In stage to Team BDS. Consequently, Team BDS advanced to the Swiss Stage, while PSG found themselves heading home. This defeat marked the end of the professional career for Maple, PSG Talon’s veteran League of Legends mid laner.
According to a report by Sheep Esports’ LCS Eevee on October 17, Maple, who has been a long-standing pro player in the PCS region, has decided to retire. Although the news has not yet been confirmed on platforms like X or Leaguepedia, considering Maple’s contract expiration on November 20 and his impressive 10-year-long career, it’s not surprising to see him bid farewell to the professional gaming scene.
Maple’s legacy spans a decade during which he played for several esteemed Asian organizations. He mainly competed in the LMS (which later became the PCS) under the banners of Flash Wolves and PSG Talon. With these teams, he participated in numerous international tournaments, including four Mid-Season Invitationals, where he consistently led his team to the semifinals.
Throughout his career, Maple also made appearances in seven League of Legends World Championships. Despite brief stints in the LPL and LCS with teams like Suning and TSM, Maple always represented LMS/PCS teams in all his Worlds appearances.
For local fans, Maple is undeniably a legend. Although Worlds and MSIs have historically been dominated by the four main regions, the LMS and PCS, led by Maple in many instances, managed to cause notable upsets in the game’s history.
