Renowned League of Legends mid laner Nicolaj Jensen is reportedly set to join FlyQuest in the LCS for the 2024 season, making this move just a year after his stint with Dignitas. Jensen is poised to replace VicLa in this roster change, marking his fourth venture for LCS glory. This comes after Jensen missed the League’s Worlds Championships while playing with Dignitas this year.
Despite Jensen’s efforts lifting Dignitas from a tenth-placed finish in the Spring Split to the LCS Championship in August, they only managed to defeat a disbanding TSM before succumbing to Golden Guardians and finishing fifth.
While Jensen’s departure from Dignitas has not been officially confirmed, the shift to FlyQuest, as reported by League blog Sheep Esports on Nov. 14, aligns with previous reports suggesting his departure from the North American esports organization about a month ago.
Sheep Esports’ report mentioned interest from another LEC squad for Jensen’s services in the first split of the 2024 season, but FlyQuest secured the Danish veteran, ensuring he will stay in the U.S. for at least the first split of the new year.
FlyQuest has undergone significant changes in its roster during the League offseason, bidding farewell to the majority of its 2023 roster in September. Jensen, a 28-year-old Dane, is expected to lead the new core of players, including Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau and Kacper “Inspired” Słoma, while rookie AD carry Fahad “Massu” Abdulmalek from FlyQuest Challengers and former 100 Thieves support Alan “Busio” Cwalina are anticipated additions.
If reports hold true, FlyQuest will present a potent combination of youth and experience, aiming for a top spot and a return to the Worlds, marking their second appearance. The last time FlyQuest participated in the pinnacle League tournament was in 2020, where their international lineup narrowly missed the quarterfinals.
Jensen and FlyQuest are expected to commence their 2024 LCS campaign in January.
