Lords of the Fallen has been released, drawing adventurers into the depths of Mournstead on a quest to overthrow the tyrannical demon god, Adyr. The game’s latest update, known as ‘The Pumpkin Patch,’ introduces several long-awaited improvements to New Game Plus, adds crossplay functionality, and includes a new Halloween event featuring a spooky Jack-o’-lantern-inspired helmet.
In this eerie world of Mournstead, Halloween decorations now adorn the environment, adding a touch of spookiness to Hexworks’ debut RPG game. Additionally, your Dark Crusader can equip a helmet that resembles a Jack-o’-lantern, complete with stitched-up eyes, gnashing jaws, and a crown of thorns – a truly creepy addition.
However, Halloween aside, the main attraction is the revamp of the Lords of the Fallen New Game Plus system. NG+ has been restructured into tiers, with Vestiges gradually removed to increase the game’s difficulty. For instance, in NG+1, only nine Vestiges are removed, while NG+2 sees 14 Vestiges taken away. By the time you reach NG+3, only Skyrest Bridge and Adyr’s Shrine Vestiges remain, making it the most challenging difficulty level. If you relish a challenging experience in your soulslike games, these changes should be music to your ears.
The Pumpkin Patch update also introduces crossplay for PC players, allowing both PC and console players to team up and play together. This is a highly requested feature, especially considering the game’s multiplayer component, so now is the perfect time for Dark Crusaders on different platforms to unite.
Other updates in the patch include a reduction in enemy density in areas where players struggled and various performance enhancements. More details about these can be found in the update notes.
