Meta Announces Price Increases For Quest 3 Headsets

As video game hardware prices continue to rise due to component shortages and other economic factors, Meta has announced it will also increase the price of its Quest 3 VR headsets.

Effective this Sunday, April 19, the U.S. prices for the Meta Quest 3 and 3S headsets, which first launched in October 2023 and October 2024, respectively, will be as follows:

Meta Quest 3S (128 GB): $349.99 (currently $299.99)
Meta Quest 3S (256 GB): $449.99 (currently $399.99)
Meta Quest 3 (512 GB): $599.99 (currently $499.99)

Here’s the full chart that lists the updated international prices:

“We’re making this change because the cost of building high-performance VR hardware has risen significantly. The global surge in the price of critical components — specifically memory chips — is impacting almost every category of consumer electronics, including VR. To keep delivering the quality of hardware, software, and support you expect from the Quest platform, we need to adjust our pricing,” reads Meta’s message.

Meta also states that these price updates will also apply to Meta Quest refurbished units. Meta Quest accessories will remain at their current prices, however.

The price of video game hardware (and tech in general) has ballooned over the last year due to a variety of factors, including US tariffs on imports and component shortages driven by the surge in AI development. Last month, Sony raised the price of the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation Portal for the second time in less than a year. The Xbox Series X/S also saw not one, but two price increases in 2025. Nintendo raised the price of original Switch models last year as well. The PC market, such as internal parts, desktops, and gaming handhelds, has also been heavily affected.
