Volutian Design has ingeniously merged the gritty atmosphere of Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City with the grandeur of Smite’s mythological heroes in a visual novel titled “Gods of the Twilight.” This visual novel offers a visually captivating experience.
Players assume the roles of Althea Mishra or Farkas Hekluson, two spirited young individuals striving to survive in the floating city of New Reykjavik. Althea is portrayed as an intellectual high-flyer, while Farkas is a street-smart, rugged individual valuing loyalty above all else. Both characters are magically endowed with godly powers inspired by Norse mythology, and players accompany them on their quest to refine these newfound abilities.
Amidst this journey, the city faces a surge in natural disasters. In one trailer, Aletha (voiced by Kelsey Jaffer, renowned for her role as Genshin Impact’s YaoYao) mentions “three winters without summer” in New Reykjavik, correlating with the prophecy of Ragnarök, as revealed by the mysterious ‘Director.’ The narrative takes a gritty turn, signaling the impending Armageddon.
As players navigate through assassination attempts and master their supernatural skills, strategic choices in selecting companions become crucial. There are five potential allies with their own agendas, some less virtuous than others.
