In an October 8 livestream, Pokimane received a gift of 100,000 bits ($1,000) from Trainwrecks, prompting her to inquire about why he had criticized her during a previous gambling debate.
Trainwrecks gave Pokimane the bits along with a message, stating, “Since you’ve mentioned it’s a positive day focused on love, let’s resolve our differences or at least maintain neutrality. Regardless, enjoy the rest of your stream.”
Initially taken aback by the generous donation, Pokimane expressed her desire to avoid any ongoing conflict, saying, “I don’t want to dwell on negativity, but I’m genuinely curious. Why did you refer to me as the most corrupt person on Twitch? I’d like to understand, and then we can move forward.” She asked this question after Trainwrecks had also gifted her some subscriptions.
She continued, “When I express my thoughts, I never intend to pass judgment on individuals, and I’m truly sorry if it came across that way.”
Trainwrecks inquired if he had indeed made such a statement, and Pokimane provided evidence from a Dexerto article on the subject. In response, Trainwrecks chuckled and stated, “Hahaha, jesus,” before adding, “I believe we can agree to disagree on certain topics and coexist. If there comes a day when we can have a private conversation about this and hopefully move forward.” At this point, Pokimane was engrossed in playing VALORANT and either missed the message or chose not to respond.
To provide some context, Trainwrecks had previously referred to Pokimane as the “most corrupt” person on Twitch during a debate with xQc about gambling policies on streaming platforms earlier in the year. Pokimane had been vocally critical of the increasing prevalence of gambling streams on Twitch, while both Trainwrecks and xQc had frequently streamed gambling content on the platform before Twitch implemented stricter policies in this regard.
Additionally, Pokimane had publicly criticized Twitch’s competitor, Kick, for having more lenient rules regarding gambling streams. She declared that she would not switch to the Kick platform, regardless of any financial incentives, in order to maintain her integrity.
