Shortly after Heroic’s surprising announcement on October 25 regarding the benching of jabbi and stavn, the latter posted a cryptic message on Twitter that many interpreted as a direct criticism of the organization. Stavn wrote, “Gotta love the world we live in,” nearly three hours after Heroic’s announcement. He added, “What is the saying? Truth always prevails.”
Heroic had revealed that stavn and jabbi had given the organization an ultimatum, asking them to choose between their in-game leader cadiaN and the rest of the team following their disappointing performance in ESL Pro League season 18 in September. Allegedly, they promised to renew their contracts with Heroic if cadiaN was removed, and Heroic complied by benching cadiaN earlier this month.
However, Heroic has now disclosed that stavn and jabbi are temporarily benched as they did not honor their part of the agreement and expressed a desire to join Astralis instead. Although stavn’s tweet did not explicitly mention Heroic, the timing and wording imply that he believes Heroic may not have been entirely honest about the recent roster changes.
This drama unfolds just two days after Heroic announced the signing of five-time Major champion dupreeh until the end of the year. As things stand, it’s uncertain whether dupreeh will ever get the opportunity to play with stavn or jabbi.
Fans were already skeptical about Heroic’s ability to remain competitive in CS2 without cadiaN, and now that it seems neither jabbi nor stavn will stay, the situation has worsened.
Heroic made their CS2 debut today against Aurora in the opening match of the Roobet Cup 2023’s Group A and managed to secure a 2-1 victory, despite fielding MOUZ NXT’s players, Christoffer “Chr1zN” Storgaard and William “sirah” Kjærsgaard, instead of their star duo. However, given the ongoing turmoil within the team this month, it appears unlikely that Heroic will achieve significant success in the competition.
