Some partnerships between gaming advertising campaigns and celebrities just naturally fit. This is one of the finest instances, with Blizzard and Diablo 4.
To promote the ARPG’s latest contest during the vampire-themed Season of Blood, the publisher has enlisted none other than Buffy the Vampire Slayer herself to help promote it and even assist in selecting winners.
Sarah Michelle Gellar, renowned for her role as the vampire-hunting teen in the late 1990s during the seven seasons of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” has now joined the ranks of celebrities hired by Blizzard to promote Diablo 4 this year.
However, the contest she discusses in the video is genuinely exciting. To participate, players simply need to share a video on TikTok, Twitter, or Instagram explaining why they would make an ideal “Diablo Vampire Hunter.” In return, they have the chance to win some fantastic prizes.
The prizes include a package with a letter signed by Gellar, a digital code worth $500 in Battle.net balance, and “a box filled with various vampire hunter props” valued at over $800.
Blizzard will select the winners, but the input of Sarah Michelle Gellar will also be considered. Therefore, including references or jokes related to Buffy could potentially improve your chances of receiving excellent rewards. Personally, I have a soft spot for her portrayal of Daphne in the Scooby-Doo movies.
Diablo 4’s Season of Blood centers around hunting, slaying, and acquiring vampiric powers. In another promotion this season, players are encouraged to donate blood to unlock in-game rewards and even have a chance to win a PC with liquid cooling infused with human blood.
You can find the complete set of rules for the promotion on Blizzard’s website, but it’s a brief contest. It commenced at 8 am CT on October 30 and will accept entries only until 2 pm CT on November 2.
