Call of Duty League 2022 MVP ladder: Pre-Major 2

Since our last ladder, the top-three MVP prospects have remained unchanged. Dashy is still in first place, although he has gained some ground on Cellium. Shotzzy is still in third place, with Simp just behind him in fourth.

Scump is sitting firmly at fifth, moving up one spot since the Major One tournament. This means three of the top-five players on the ladder are OpTic players.

London Royal Ravens played without Gismo during their first two matches of this split but still looked great thanks to PaulEhx. Afro has been bumped up three places to the sixth position, and his veteran leader Zer0 remains in eighth.

ABeZy hasn’t looked himself this season but is still sitting comfortably at seventh. In his last 11 matches, he’s only produced a kill/death ratio over 1.00 once, but there’s no doubt in anyone’s mind he can crack the top three at any given moment.

Making his debut on the MVP Ladder is Methodz, who has replaced Kenny at the 10th spot. Methodz finished Major Two qualifiers with the highest kill/death ratio in all three game-modes and is still holding the fourth-best kill/death ratio in the entire league.

Here’s a look at the top 10 MVP candidates for the 2022 CDL season following the Major Two qualifiers.

10) Methodz

  • Average rank: 8.9
  • Last ladder: Unranked
  • Team standings: Fourth (8-6)
  • Season kill/death ratio: 1.13
  • Since the last ladder: 1.38

Boston Breach have looked incredible of late. The franchise is currently sitting at fourth on the season standings and Methodz has just squeezed his way onto the MVP ladder, which isn’t bad considering he was benched last season and almost didn’t make it into the league this year.

The franchise finished the Major Two qualifiers with a 4-1 record, beating Surge, RØKKR, Ultra, Mutineers, and only losing to Ravens in the final week. Over this split, Methodz averaged the number one kill/death ratio in all three game modes, and currently holds the fourth highest throughout the entire season.

Breach is scheduled to play Guerrillas in the first round of the Major Two tournament on Thursday at 4:30 PM ET. If they win that match, they’ll play the winner of London Royal Ravens vs. Florida Mutineers.

9) iLLeY

  • Average rank: 8.1
  • Last ladder: Fifth
  • Team standings: First (12-2)
  • Season kill/death ratio: 1.02
  • Since the last ladder: 1.02

One of the youngest and best in-game leaders in the league. iLLeY has unfortunately been bumped down four spots to ninth in the MVP ladder, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t doing well.

Atlanta FaZe were without Simp over the weekend, and iLLeY took advantage of that. He finished the series with a 1.36 kill/death ratio, a game-high 60 kills over three maps, and he produced the most damage on the map by more than 1,300.

OpTic are sitting on a 12-game win streak heading into the Major Two tournament. They’ll face Seattle Surge in round one and, if they move on, they’ll likely play FaZe, who will be defending the record.

  • Average rank: 8.0
  • Last ladder: Eighth
  • Team standings: Third (10-4)
  • Season kill/death ratio: 1.06
  • Since the last ladder: 1.04

Zer0 yet again continues to silence the critics.

London Royal Ravens are considered by most the third-best team in the league, and Zer0 is a huge part of their success, not only according to the stats, but because of the veteran presence he brings to the rookie stacked line-up.

Heading into Major Two though, Zer0 will have to turn it up a notch if the franchise wants to see improvements from the last Major, where they finished third to OpTic and FaZe.

  • Average rank: 6.8
  • Last ladder: Seventh
  • Team standings: Second (12-4)
  • Season kill/death ratio: 0.99
  • Since the last ladder: 0.94

aBeZy dropped five places in our last ladder, but this time he luckily maintained his position despite not playing to his expectations since the Major One qualifiers.

During the Major One tournament, the former MVP failed to produce a kill/death ratio over 1.00, and his struggles continued moving into the Major Two qualifiers where he only finished one series with a kill/death ratio over 1.00.

Looking forward, Atlanta FaZe will match up against the new and improved New York Subliners in round one of Major Two tournament this weekend. If they win that match, they’ll then play the winner of OpTic Texas vs. Seattle Surge.

  • Average rank: 6.3
  • Last ladder: Ninth
  • Team standings: Third (10-4)
  • Season kill/death ratio: 1.05
  • Since the last ladder: 1.07

Moving up three places is Afro of London Royal Ravens, who has been playing some of the best Call of Duty of his young career.

In their first match of the qualifiers, Afro dominated New York Subliners, dropping a 1.43 kill/death ratio and finished the series with 99 kills over four maps and had 1,500 more damage than all three of his teammates.

Ravens finished Major Two qualifiers second on the standings with a 4-1 record beating Breach, Thieves, Legion, and Subliners. The franchise is currently sitting at third place on the overall season standings with a 10-4 record, with three of their losses to the two teams above them in the standings.

5) Scump

  • Average rank: 5.6
  • Last ladder: Sixth
  • Team standings: First (12-2)
  • Season kill/death ratio: 1.07
  • Since the last ladder: 1.11

Scump finished Major Two qualifiers with a 1.11 kill/death ratio, the ninth-highest in the league and the fifth-highest for all SMG players, and because of that, he’s moved up one spot on the ladder.

His two best matches in this split were against FaZe and Guerrillas where he dropped a 1.25 and 1.26 kill/death ratio, however, both teams were, unfortunately, playing with last-minute substitute players due to illness.

Search and Destroy is still Scump’s weak point this season He ranks 40th, 36th, and 34th in all three categories and will look to pick up the pace in a game mode that’s haunted him for many seasons.

  • Last ladder: Fourth
  • Team standings: Second (12-4)
  • Season kill/death ratio: 1.08
  • Since the last ladder: 1.13

Atlanta FaZe as a whole has not looked like themselves this season, which is saying a lot considering they’ve only lost four matches. They finished Major Two qualifiers in fifth place with a 3-2 record, losing to Surge, and then OpTic, which Simp sat out due to illness.

Simp is expected to be back in the starting line-up this weekend when the franchise goes against New York Subliners in the first round of the Major Two tournament.

  • Average rank: 4.3
  • Last ladder: Third
  • Team standings: First (12-2)
  • Season kill/death ratio: 1.07
  • Since the last ladder: 1.09

The 2020 MVP and rookie of the year has kept his number three spot, but Simp is slowly gaining on him. Shotzzy has been dominating in Search and Destroy this season. He’s currently holding the fifth-best kill/death ratio, averaging the second-best kills per round, and holds the sixth-best first blood percentage in the game mode.

Shotzzy’s best showing over OpTic’s last five matches was against Guerrillas, where he finished with a game-high 1.46 kill/death ratio and topped the leaderboard with 70 kills over three maps. That includes 36 of them on in Control, where OpTic are on a record-breaking 14-win streak.

  • Average rank: 2.2
  • Last ladder: Second
  • Team standings: Second (12-4)
  • Season kill/death ratio: 1.22
  • Since the last ladder: 1.16

Cellium has continued to put up insane numbers this season; he’s currently holding the number one Hardpoint, Search and Destroy, and overall kill/death ratio in the entire league.

During Atlanta’s 3-2 victory over Florida, Cellium dropped 84 kills with over 10,000 damage and finished the four map series with a 1.40 kill/death ratio.

Unfortunately for Cellium, he likely won’t see the number one position on the ladder until OpTic are knocked off their throne, or Dashy’s thumbs fall off.

  • Overall kill/death ratio: 1.22 (first in the league)

1) Dashy

To no surprise, Dashy is still holding firmly onto the number one position on the ladder and has even gained some distance between himself and Cellium at second.

Kicking off the Major Two qualifiers in week one, OpTic Texas narrowly beat Los Angeles Thieves 3-2, despite heavily out slaying them. Dashy finished with 1.44 kill/death ratio across the series, which included 85 kills and the most damage in the lobby.

OpTic Texas were undefeated during the Major Two qualifiers and are currently on a 12-game win streak, one-off tying the Call of Duty League record set by Atlanta FaZe last season. Their next match will be against Seattle Surge, who OpTic have beaten with ease in their two matchups this season.
