Hopeful FFXIV Diablo 4 Crossover Gets Response from Blizzard President

Blizzard Entertainment’s president, Mike Ybarra, has briefly responded to the notion of a crossover between Diablo 4 and Final Fantasy XIV, a concept proposed by Naoki ‘Yoshi-P’ Yoshida, the director of FFXIV. During FFXIV Fan Fest London, Yoshida expressed interest in a potential collaboration between Diablo 4 and the MMORPG, although he acknowledged uncertainty about how it would come to fruition.

The Final Fantasy XIV community can look forward to several upcoming crossovers, including Dawntrail. During the Fan Fest, a glimpse of numerous new additions to Final Fantasy XIV was unveiled. This includes a crossover with FFXVI’s Clive Rosfield and an Alliance Raid in FFXIV inspired by FFXI, among other exciting developments.

At the London Fan Fest, Yoshida showed interest in a FFXIV and Diablo crossover but cited potential challenges. He mentioned the stark contrast in the graphical style and rating of the two franchises, explaining that it might be difficult to align them. Balancing the expectations of Diablo fans in a more “soft” FFXIV version of the crossover could also be a concern.

In response to the discussion regarding this crossover possibility, Ybarra offered a somewhat suggestive emoji in his reply. This doesn’t reveal much, but it does confirm that both sides are aware of the concept, potentially opening the door for discussions on how to bring it to life.

While no promises have been made, this marks a positive start for the potential collaboration. For fans of Eorzea, there’s also information on the upcoming FFXIV Dawntrail Viper job and a new magic DPS job set to be introduced with the expansion next year.
